Nick,
I picked up a Synology DS1511, a few months a go, and I love it. It was definitely pricey, but well worth it. I had 4 desktop drives and it was getting out of hand trying to manage what was where.

Awesome, great tip.

You mentioned iPhoto buddy to me before and I totally forgot. I think I will still keep videos separate, though, as I don’t like to lock them into the single “iPhoto Videos” folder. I really wish iMovie would simply expand that into a list of subfolders one for each event in the iPhoto library.

I use iPhoto buddy (http://www.iphotobuddy.com/) to keep my libraries tidy.

I have one library for each year that the photos were taken in and 1 library for videos taken with my flip.

the only trick is to launch iphoto with the library you want to use imovie with. , then launch imovie. keeps things lean and mean

I installed in on my Mac Pro too. I really like how they’ve changed Expose to Mission Control and I’m a fan of Launch Pad. The new email is way better and seems to run faster (I’m on my same network at home so nothing else has changed).

I do have a problem that I can get it to install from App Store on my iMac. It says I don’t have enough memory but that’s clearly not the case. Need to figure out a solution to that one.

So far so good!

I have a Q: you posted a photo named The Earth on a Red Carpet on Primordial Ooze in 2006. Did you take that photo? If so, may I ask for a permission to use it for a cover of a student journal? (Not sure how this works, so please explain if the money is required ?)

In the loop that moves the items into the Read folder, I added this:

objItem.UnRead = False

Which marks the items as read.

Actually Git recently acquired so called “smart” HTTP transport support, which should be as efficient as Mercurial HTTP transport.

Do you have time to talk about your hc3 / macbook pro setup?
I need help form someone who has actually made it work.
With brand new cable, camera: I get no detection on the firewire. I did all the stuff apple says, they don’t have it listed on the supported products.

Were you able to pull video strait from the camera or did you need to play back after shooting?

I would email you directly but cannot find your contact info.
If you have a few minutes, I could take a call.
