Bryce 5.0 Metaball Support

I played with the new Bryce 5.0 (free) Metaball support. The following animation took me about 20 minutes to set up. It’s basically a default scene with these modifications:

  • I created a checkered platform. I didn’t use an infinite checkered plane since that looks like crap toward the  horizon and complicates the rendering process.
  • I added two metaballs one on top of the other.
  • The metaballs have a white metal surface texture applied
  • Metaball 2 moves up to it’s own location over a 5–second time period.
  • I used the advanced motion lab to add an acceleration and deceleration effect to the position over time.
