John Codignotto Jr 1941-2011

My dad passed away this week and my brothers and I created a website dedicated to his memory. If you have stories of my dad, however insignificant they may seem to you, please take a moment to visit http://johncodignotto.com and sign the guestbook with your memories.

Former long time Wantagh resident John Codignotto Jr. passed away on January 20th, 2011 at the age of 69 with his whole family by his side. He was a father, mentor, & hero to his three devoted sons, John (48), Tom (45) & Nick (41) from his thirty year marriage to their loving mother Barbara Codignotto. He leaves behind his two adoring sisters Joyce Tuszl (72), Jean Koji (67) & brother-in-law Bill. He will be deeply missed by his 5 wonderful grandchildren, Giovanni (11), Antonio (10), Marco (7), Lia (5) & Serafina (4) and their beautiful mothers, John’s daughter-in-laws Anne & Lisa. He worked as a carpenter for a large part of his life and after being diagnosed with cancer in 2003, he purchased land upstate New York and single-handedly built his dream home in the country at the age of 67. He was a tremendous athlete, lettering in three sports at Wantagh High School, and winning the Long Island Wrestling Championship in 1960 as a senior. Services will be held at C.S. Bartholomew & Son Funeral Home 302 Bedford Ave., Bellmore, New York 11710, (516) 785-0225 on Sunday January 23, 2011 from 2-4pm and again from 7-9:30pm.

I will miss you daddy. Your memory will live in me and my family. May you rest in peace.
